SuperHero 101 (a.k.a. "Capes & Codpieces")

"This class includes a mixture of flamboyant superhero comic and action movie inspired jumps, kicks, punches, juggling, clam-eating contests, and yodeling. Remember that scene from The Matrix when what's-her-butt jumps off that building and does three flips, five sagittal plane rotations, four spinning crescent kicks, and a scene-stopping, high-five celebration at the end? We won't be doing anything like that. The kicks, punches, and eye gouges you will learn in SuperHero 101 will be of absolutely no value in an actual street fight. Someone will duct tape you to the carpet if you try moves from class in your next domestic dispute. After mastering SuperHero 101, you will be prepared for your next action movie. The camera will love you. You will learn to fly, tell time in your sleep, perform deep tissue massage on caribou ... the list goes on.
In addition to learning how to write your name in snow using last night's iced tea, you'll perform dynamic, resistance exercises designed to tone, strengthen and develop your flaccid musculature. People will describe you as 'nifty'.
Everyone should wear a cape. Remember that it's not the size of your cape ... okay, it is the size of your cape that counts. Please don't show up in a body tight leotard until you are absolutely sure you won't look like a bipedal pair of panty hose stuffed full of vegetables. I'll be covered from head to toe in a thick wool jumper. My four-inch red cape and bulbous chainmail codpiece will distinguish me from a sheep ... and as the instructor."

"Super Hero 101 is a skills training class that is challenging with regard to form and coordination. More similar to a Karate instructional and tumbling class than an 'aerobics' class. Participants learn and develop the skills and coordination to perform proper front, side, crescent and round kicks. As participants' abilities develop they will learn to combine basic kicks and punches with jumps, spins, cartwheels and rolls. The goal of the class is to create an improved sense of body control, true martial arts based skills, and action movie like moves that basically look cool and are fun. Feet are bare and fake mustaches are encouraged ... even on the men.
