"My name is Brighyan Clifton and I have been teaching at Scott Fitness for around 1 year. I decided to begin this journey, in addition to my full-time position, because fitness has always been a big part of my life. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and completed my MBA at Grantham University.
I am gearing up to begin my PhD program in the next few months, which is exciting yet also very time consuming. I understand that we all live extremely busy lives, whether it is with work, family, school or all of the above. I truly believe that it is of the utmost importance to include health and fitness into our daily routine. I have played multiple sports throughout my lifetime and have found that in each position and each sport there is a different physical benefit that people can learn from and use to improve their mental and physical well being.
I am currently teaching Boxing because it particularly works both the mental and physical aspects of an individual. It allows you to help manage your weight, focus on yourself (even if it’s only for that hour and a half), and develop self discipline to use in all other aspects of your life. It is a phenomenal opportunity for individuals at all levels of physical fitness to grow and mature.
Below are some of the incredible attributes of the Boxing Class I teach. Please read and feel free to contact me with any and all questions. Otherwise I’ll see you in class on Monday! Get ready to sweat!
Sports scientists agree that cardio-boxing is one of the best forms of exercise because it conditions the total body and provides a complete workout for your cardiovascular and endurance systems.
The major benefits of cardio-boxing include:
- Increased stamina
- Increased strength
- Increased speed
- Increased coordination
Cardio-boxing also promotes a person’s well being and increases self-discipline. Combined with strength training, it’s the total package for self-defense and fitness and usually consists of:
- Adjusted heart rate work
- Actual boxing techniques

* Bring a pair of boxing gloves. We have some to loan but you'll want your own pair.
Brain damage from even relatively light head and shoulder punches is not funny and is never part of our workouts.
