Bike-on-a-stand Instructor
paul ridgway, scott fitness 24 hour exercise club in kansas city instructor"Initiated into the world of physical wellness via a pair of shin guards and an almost grassless soccer field in Wyandotte County, my fitness has had a checkered past. Although soccer was certainly the impetus towards what has become an obsession with wellness, both physical as well as mental; the manifestations of this "hobby" are numerous. Whether running a 5k, biking across the Katy Trail (I always stop by Jim's Bar in Tebbetts for burgers and for a ride in his Model-T), sweating dubious amounts in Michelle Walling's Pilates class, or killing some intense weight training, I have found physical wellness to be a bona-fide wellspring for happiness. This belief motivated me to become a physical trainer.

Being Paul Ridgway:
  • lost the "e" years ago
  • is secretly troubled by the absent "e"
  • wishes his first name was Meltose - latin for "brown sugar"
  • has a bike with no break
  • hears cats purring in his sleep
  • dog's name is Zora Neale Hurston.
In the spring of 2005, I broke my femur in an accident, which lead to multiple surgeries leaving me with a titanium rod in my right leg. After several months of recovery, I slowly began to walk ... and then run ... and today, I'm overjoyed to say, there isn't an activity that I can't perform as well (and in many cases superior to) as before the accident. That time of physical renaissance in my life has created an undeniable appreciation of just how invaluable physical wellness is to living a "good" life.

It is this keen understanding of wellness that I strive to electrify my clients with. No matter what goal my client is striving towards, my aim is to not only reach this goal but to foster an understanding that will engender new goals and a new standard for life. It has been my experience that overall wellness and the resulting joy that it invariably evokes has an addictive quality that will keep you coming back for more..."

Zora Neale Hurston, scott fitness 24 hour exercise clubs in kansas city In his own words. An email from Paul Ridgway:

"All right. if only to marginally redeem my really sad albeit hilarious instructor page on your site, here's my spontaneous attempt at a self portrait (and a picture of my ridiculously amazing looking puppy, Zora). You're welcome.

P.S. I reserve the right, should i become unbearably dissatisfied with the picture hitherto used to solicit clients from your website, to remove said picture through discussion and an exchange of a different profile pic; OR should the situation necessitate I may crash your whole website using my Mongolian warrior skills and vigor or my equally efficacious Ninja abilities which are formidable and not to be taken lightly (or to heavily, cause I'm a ninja) BOOYA!

P.P.S. My dog is named after the Zora Neale Hurston (she was a black woman who wrote during the Harlem Renaissance and, without going into too much detail, was a serious bad ass."
