Hi, I am Jeff, and welcome to my world. I am entering my 8th year in the personal training field, and I have been around fitness since I was a kid. I currently hold the following professional qualifications:
- BA Physical Education—UMKC
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction
- US Navy Veteran
“I have been exercising with Jeff for two years, and I find I have more energy than I have had in years. I have strength in my arms, back, and legs. Having had double hip replacement surgery, getting around use to be frustrating. Now that is not a problem. I have a great overall feeling of health. I am 84 years old, and I fear Jeff has added years to my life. As a senior citizen, I would highly recommend Jeff for a personal trainer.”

I love to help people and give them a toolbox of cutting-edge techniques for staying healthy and in shape for the rest of their lives. I have worked with the general public as well as professional athletes. The greatest reward I get from training is watching a client change how he/she lives, looks, and feels by using my functional, practical, yet scientific method to fitness. I make training with me fun, unintimidating, and very effective. Be prepared to laugh when you train with me.
- Have you ever looked in the mirror and said, “I need to get in shape”?
- Have you ever worked with a trainer before?
- Are you looking to look good, feel good, and improve your daily function?
- Are you in need of weight loss, weight gain, muscle toning, or stress relief?
- Is your diet and exercise routine a mess or at a stalemate? (hint: routine can be bad.)
- Do you need help?
I take each client through orientation and assessment to understand what his/her goals are, his/her current level of health and wellness, and the pathway to safely achieve those goals. Each clients program is specific. I take a little or a lot from the different avenues of fitness and personalize a training program to get you in shape and make sure that little motor we call the heart is “road ready.”
I enlisted in the Navy in 1990, qualified for Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training, and gave everything I had to the hardest military training in the world. SEAL training molds the individual to be able to do just about anything, and it laid the foundation for the functional cross-training system I use today. I have studied and instructed many training methods including:
- General health and wellness
- Post rehabilitation
- Occupational-specific training
- Sport-specific athletic training
- Muscular-strength and endurance training, i.e. military conditioning
- Strength training
- Power training
- Balance training
- Flexibility training
- Yoga
- Martial arts
- Nutrition counseling
- General health and wellness
What’s cool about this training ethic is that I can assess a client, modify, and prescribe it to almost anyone. I mean that. I can implement, modify, and scale down the methods of fitness to fit any client I work with, based on his/her goals and current level of health and wellness. My system unlocks doors of energy you never knew you had. It sharpens the mind and refreshes the spirit. It gets you in shape and can make movement and the ability to do things feel like a renaissance, affecting all the avenues of your life: social, business, personal, family, etc.
“Following recovery from open heart surgery, I was looking for a workout to help strengthen my heart and my entire body. I had been doing the usual gym routine: aerobics class, cycling, the treadmill, etc, but I wanted more. A fellow worker had been training with Jeff, and I was impressed not only with the obvious physical changes in my friend but also with hearing about the level of training. I contacted Jeff and began training with him in September 2004. During my initial assessment I could only do one push up and acknowledged that I had done very little weight training. I have been training basically 3 days a week with Jeff for almost 4 years.
My arms and legs reflect the level of training I have accomplished. My doctor and my cardiologist have been pleased but more so amazed when I describe my workouts. Test results have proven how much my workouts have helped. Following the plan Jeff designed, I did my first marathon in San Diego this June.
Earlier this month, as part of a regular check up, I had an echo cardiogram. The results showed that my heart is pumping oxygen back into my veins at the rate of 71%. That may not sound impressive; however, the doctor then told me the normal range is 60-65%. I am happy to include this statistic in my testimonial. I am happy to be a 65 year old female in such good shape thanks to Jeff’s workouts.”

If I had not been hurt in SEAL training, I would probably be jumping out of planes into the midnight ocean right now (Yeah!!!). I know … I know … but stuff like that just flicks my switch. Instead, I am here doing what I love to do: being a good dad, teaching lifetime fitness, and proving that nearly anyone can live a little way of the warrior. Ponce de Leon had it wrong. Exercise is the fountain of youth. Peace.

"At 39 – overweight, workaholic, and exhausted, I did not know how much my life would change when I started training with Jeff. Jeff had faith in me and the patience of a saint. I had spent my entire life being told to take the farthest position out and being the last one picked.
Jeff's diverse, everchanging workouts (no preset, one size fits all program), great attitude, and focus on proper nutrition – I found my inner athlete and an amazing confidence, perseverance and resiliency. My life has been transformed.
My training experience is best expressed in this quote:
"Come to the edge. We can't. We're afraid. Come to the edge. We can't. We will fall! Come to the edge. And they came. And he pushed them. And they flew." -- Guillaume Apollinaire."
